Cudillero in a Motorhome: The Most Picturesque Village in the Cantabrian Sea

There are villages that seem to have been designed by an artist. Cudillero is one of them. This small fishing port on the western coast of Asturias, wedged between green cliffs that fall directly into the sea, is one of the most photographed destinations in Asturias and, for many travellers, the most beautiful in the whole of the Cantabrian Sea. Touring it in a motorhome allows you to arrive at your own pace, explore the surroundings calmly and discover the coves and viewpoints that tourists in a hurry never find.

Where to park your motorhome in Cudillero

Cudillero has two main options that are well valued by the motorhome community:

Cudillero Service Area (Avia)

Located at the entrance to the village, it is a paid area with full services: drinking water, emptying of grey and black water. It is the most comfortable option and the closest to the center. From here you can walk down to the port in a few minutes.

MasyMas area of Cudillero

Another well-known alternative in the area, also well equipped and easily accessible. Ideal if the first one is full in high season.

Important tip: in summer Cudillero is full of visitors. We recommend that you arrive before 11 am to ensure a comfortable seat.

What to see and do in Cudillero

The Port and the Amphitheatre of Houses

The nerve centre of the town is its port. Surrounded by colorful houses – yellow, blue, green, white – that climb the slope in the form of an amphitheater, this is the time to take out the camera and not put it away. Each angle offers a different perspective, and if you go down to the pier itself, you can see local fishermen preparing their tackle in the early morning.

The Mirador del Pito

About 2 km from the centre, following the coastal road, you will find one of the most spectacular viewpoints in all of Asturias. From the Mirador del Pito you will have a complete aerial view of the town, its port and the estuary. It is the point from which the most iconic photos of Cudillero are taken. Free access.

Aguilar Beach

A few kilometres from Cudillero, this extensive golden sandy beach with cliffs on the sides is perfect for a swim or for a walk. It has ample parking in the surroundings and is much less crowded than other beaches on the central Asturian coast.

Local gastronomy

Don’t leave Cudillero without trying the pixín (monkfish) prepared a la marinera in one of the restaurants in the port. The seafood gastronomy of this town is one of the best on the entire Asturian coast. Accompany it with a bottle of natural cider poured and you will have completed the experience.

The Route of the Cliffs

From Cudillero you can explore a fantastic coastal route to the west by motorhome, following the AS-22. In a few kilometres you will find small hidden coves, fishing villages and viewpoints over the sea that hardly appear in tourist guides. It is the least known and most authentic Asturias.

Cudillero is one of those places that everyone who visits them falls in love with. In a motorhome, with the freedom to stay for a day or three, the experience is multiplied. Don’t leave it for another time.
